I am in the process of creating and tweaking my own Rohirric universe and trying to write about it. It is a fun journey! I really feel like travelling into an unknown country of which Tolkien only charted main lines.
It is also hard, enjoyable work to research what might happen in such a universe.
I am not a native English speaker! Though I was educated to know, I was still pleasantly surprised to discover Old English is much closer to my native Dutch, than modern English. For example the in-my-eyes-only ‘famous’ old English word ‘Leoffesta’ (darling) comes close to current Dutch ‘liefste’ (‘ie’ pronounced as ‘ee’ in street and the 'e' like 'u' in duh). Do not get the impression, I know anything about Old English, I am only a visitor of OEME.
