Hm, I'm fumbling around here, but I think I can fill out a profile! Lia kindly let me know about this website and I think I'll enjoy myself!
I was introduced to Middle-earth as a small girl when my father scared the crap outta me and my sibs by reading The Hobbit. Years later the only thing I remembered of the story as I read it for myself was the scene under the mountain with Gollum. And he keeps popping up on me such as when I fell asleep listening to the BBC radio version and woke up to him shrieking.
Gollum does not appear in my stories! But Eomer does. I just love those Horse Lords! So far, the only "complete" works I have are a series of drabbles called Cameos available at ff.net. I'm working on several short stories/one-shots at the moment and possibly something with chapters.
I've read The Silmarillion and LotR, but my focus will be on the latter. I'm trudging through UT and anything else Christopher T. edited in order to build the universe. I just printed off a bunch of maps for myself because I GET LOST. I totally thought the Harlond and Anduin were on the other side of Minas Tirith. Rammas Echor? Pfft! It's not even there, is it?
Of special note, I have a tendency to not finish what I start. I'm hoping that will be cured and that my writer's integrity can be restored. I have some original poetry published and an original novel that will have to be discovered posthumously.
My pen name comes from two characters that I felt sorry for, Medea of Greek mythology and Smike from a Dickens novel (I swapped a y). If I ever have kids I should be careful of whom I'm feeling sorry for.
I'm an almost-librarian, meaning that I work in the library doing everything a librarian does, but I need my masters degree before I get the title.
