Greetings!
I've been writing fiction since about 1996, when I discovered at television show called "Forever Knight". www.loftworks.com/fktoc.html
In a vampire universe, I seem to fall for the one that's most misunderstood. In this case, a character named "Vachon". So bad, he's good. ;D
Unfortunately, the series ended badly (they just about killed off every character they created, including my beloved Vachon). And, the fandom faded away after Sci-Fi and USA stopped showing re-runs. Since I basically came into it when it was already in re-run, it was very short lived. Though, this character's influence can be seen in some of my Original Characters.
For a time, I moved into some Real Person (Rock Star) fic. But, when other writers tittered that it might not be entirely fictional...I decided it was a little squicky. I felt I was taking a known image and embellishing it with qualities from my own imagination, others thought I "knew too much". The disclaimers became longer and longer and more insistent, until I pretty much stopped writing all together and found other interests.
Then I saw Lord of the Rings.
A funny story because I didn't see the first movie until just before the 2nd was due to come out. I was protesting having to wait a year between movies. The first time I saw it, I barely noticed Legolas. And I never did go to the theater to see Two Towers.
WHAT?!?!?! You say. Yeah, I know.
Then, by the time the third movie was a few months away, I watched "Fellowship" and "Two Towers" with my daughter, aged 9 at the time.
She said, "Who's THAT?" When he appeared on screen. And I paid more attention.
It was the beginning of a love affair.
I had no idea who Orlando Bloom was. Not a clue. We even saw the first Pirates movie and didn't make the connection. At all.
It wasn't until I watched the LotR movies again, I realized... the bone structure, the voice... Hey, it's that guy! Whats-his-name from Pirates of the Caribbean.
*snork*
Then, of course, I became hungry for more. I wanted more Legolas... and surely the Internet could give him to me.
Yep.
I found Henneth-Annun Story Archive right away, joined the Yahoo!Group and started reading, and writing.
I'm still here.
I've had works archived in many places, HASA, Open Scrolls, Stories of Arda. I've also won MEFA awards for my fiction. But now, I have my own little home on the Internet, and while it's not the most popular, it's mine. My own. <G>
All my collected works are archived at www.gardenofithilien.net that's probably where you can best get to know me.
I'm also a working writer... slogging out original fiction and submitting it to various markets, trying to 'sell'.
Along with all that I'm a working mother of one beautiful daughter, and own my own business' (yes, more than one). I'm a nurse, dog lover, horse lover and I'm an active member of the SCA, re-enacting medieval history. I fence (yes, with swords) and know quite a bit about medieval combat. I sew and know quite a lot about clothing in the middle ages.
I'm a pretty frank editor, so if you want a beta that will tear your story apart, leave it in ribbons, and make you want to kick the cat (figuratively!) I'm your girl. I can also be gentle if you ask nicely. :-)
Welcome to the Garden!
