I thought that I should create a profile here so that you could get to know me a bit better.
I’m a 30-something stay at home mom to two young girls, ages four and seven. This keeps me quite busy, I assure you, particularly coordinating the treatment programs for my bright and beautiful eldest daughter who is autistic. I do have a Master of Arts Degree, but I do not ever see myself returning to paid work. If I ever have the time, I may return to school again for more post graduate study. I think that I could happily become a full time student!
I have been reading Tolkien fanfiction for many years (probably more than I care to count!), but I am a relative newcomer to the world of writing. I wrote my first story “Answers and Questions” about one and a half years ago. I am always striving to improve my writing and I love to receive critique, the more detailed the better!
As my screen name would indicate I have a passion for the peredhil. I am absolutely fascinated with their choice, and it is an underlying theme in almost everything that I write. I’m also very interested in Aragorn and the Northern Dunedain.

It is Peredhil centric!!! *grin* You have much admiration from me as both a writer and a critic and having time to be mom for TWO girls, one with special needs. *hats off to you!*

You can count me in that group as well--I have a nephew with Asperger's.

Er, um, I strongly suspect both my husband and son have Asperger's. I can't count the times I sat at the parent/teacher conferences and protested, "He's not lazy -- he honestly has trouble understanding the emotional content of those words he reads and spells so well." And that was before I met someone online and learned what Asperger's was.
Small world, eh?

Is it your daughter who is affected as well? For some reason, I was under the impression that your son had autism, but I suppose that assumption arose from the fact that it affects a much larger number of boys than girls. How old is your daughter if you don’t mind me asking? In our case, I can honestly say that autism runs in the family. My husband’s brother has Asperger’s as well as a cousin of his, although my husband does not display any symptoms in the least (I would say that he is the most empathetic man that I know).

Now, I must say that perhaps I am just being dense (it has been known to happen) but I can’t for the life of me figure out what prompt ficlet in the challenges section you are referring to. The most recent TTT prompt that I see there is “MAGIC” and has a quote describing Thranduil’s halls from the Hobbit. I’m trying (and failing) to figure out how this is peredhil centric. Is there another prompt that I am missing?
