I've been asked what type of fiction I write, and I need to come clean and admit that I haven't. I would like to, but I don't, just can't bring myself to write down what's in my head. That's why I came. I'm here to re-learn how to play in the Garden.
For reasons that could only make sense to a 10 year old, I silenced my creative voice 40 years ago, and only recently has it dawned on me that I can't live without it one minute longer. So, I'm following my bliss, as hackneyed a phrase as that's become, and at the moment where it leads is to re-immersing myself in Tolkien's works, my native waters when I was a teen and young adult.
In real life, I'm a grandma with one homeschooled teenage daughter still at home. My husband and I are off-grid homesteader types, and we work a small mixed farm. I like to say I'm an intentional peasant. I have a B.A. in Literature, but went to massage therapist school instead of finishing my M.A. (well, it seemed like a good idea at the time!) Maybe it really was a good idea; for twenty years I practiced and taught massage here in the US and, for three years, overseas in New Zealand. I'm originally from downstate Michigan, but we lived for quite a few years in Arizona before settling in our present place in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (yah, I'm a yooper, eh?).
